Tap classes for fast-beginners/Intermediates with Front Room Theatre and Penn and Doyle Dance Academy and individual sessions available. contact us for more information. Booked in blocks of 6 weeks. Your first class: pay-as-you go. Pay-as-you go session is £10. (no class on Tuesday 16th June 2026).
Tap classes run on Tuesdays at the Rising Sun Arts Centre, 30 Silver Street, Reading RG2 9EH. Watch this space for a new jazz dance class too!

School Green Community Centre: NEW TAP CLASS: Thursdays 7.30pm-8.30pm £10 (payable in advance, discounts available). SOCIAL DANCE: 8.30pm-9pm. £6 pay on the door, or £2 if signed up to the one-hour class.

For 6 week tap courses at Rising Sun Arts Centre:
LEVEL: beginners and fast beginners/intermediates - suitable for those with some dance experience or fast learners
CONTENT: warm up, technique work, choreography to a fun track and then cool down.
COST: £60 a term, or drop in to 3 classes for £35.
DATES: classes in 6 week blocks throughout the year. Usually with one week break every 6 and a longer break in the summer months)
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: A £10 deposit is payable one week before the first one hour class of a 6 week term. Then remaining £50 can be paid on the day of the first class or in two installments (1st and 4th class) For the 3-class drop-in option £10 is payable one week before the first class of the 6-week term, and the remaining £25 on the day of the first class. If the teacher falls sick or cannot teach for any other reason, then a suitable alternative date will be arranged, usually a week added on at the end of a term, or a number of sessions may be extended to make up the time. The half hour class is currently drop-in and informal.
Small, friendly and welcoming classes. Natalie teaches a variety of techniques and moves both low impact and higher impact, with modifications available. Challenging and fun routines to musical theatre tunes. For all ages.

ABOUT NATALIE AND THE TAP SHE TEACHES
Learn to dance with Natalie. Natalie trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in acting and musical theatre, and beforehand trained in the American Association of Dance syllabus, at Tamworth Academy. She has also learned with various teachers, attending classes at Danceworks, Dance Attic, The Place (contemporary), Reside Dance (contemporary), Pineapple Studios and Mark Morris (Tap). She was part of the Stockholm Tap Festival in 2024, and attended classes and workshops with instructors including Anthony Morigerato, Brenda Bufalino, Sarah Reich and Sam Weber. She has a unique blend of experience as a professional dancer, actor, singer and linguist and has trained in classes taught by numerous different associations, so her knowledge is broad of both tap moves and steps, and their various names!
The American Association tap techniques were brought over to the UK by the likes of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. There is a focus on theory which enables you to be a better dancer and understand the reasons behind some of the preparations and barre work we do as dancers.
Our teacher Natalie will share with you her energy and love of tap-dance! Come along to a session to try it out. No need to purchase tap shoes to begin with.
We also initiated classes at Shrewsury House Community Centre in South East London. These are now run by someone else, and are great fun! More info here: https://www.shrewsburyhouse.org
